Tracheal injury diagnosed with three-dimensional imaging using multidetector row computed tomography.

چکیده
Tracheobronchial injury is a rare and serious complication of blunt chest trauma. Diagnosis of this injury requires a high index of clinical suspicion. Delay in diagnosis is the single most important factor influencing the outcome. Diagnosis of this injury may be delayed because of subtle and nonspecific clinical and radiological findings and the much more overt clinical signs of other more-frequently associated injuries. Although the radiographic findings and axial computed tomographic (CT) findings of this type of injury have been reported in the literature, to the best of our knowledge. the use of 3-dimensional (3D) CT has never been reported. We report a case of such an injury demonstrated by multiplanar and 3D imaging using a multidetector row computed tomographic scanner. A large carinal laceration was clearly depicted on multiplanar and 3D CT images.

Three-dimensional reconstruction of New Zealand rabbit antebrachium by multidetector computed tomography
The aim of this study was to reveal biometric peculiarities of New Zealand white rabbit antebrachium (radius and ulna) by means of three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) images. Under general anesthesia, the antebrachiums of a total of sixteen rabbits of both sexes were scanned with a general diagnostic MDCT. Biometric measurements of the reconstructed...
متن کاملDiscussion. Application of multidetector-row computed tomography in propeller flap planning.
BACKGROUND The propeller flap is defined as (1) being island-shaped, (2) having an axis that includes the perforators, and (3) having the ability to be rotated around an axis. The advantage of the propeller flap is that it is a pedicle flap that can be applied to cover defects located at the distal ends of the extremities. The specific aims of the authors' study were (1) to evaluate the usefuln...
متن کاملImaging of penetrating injuries of the head and neck:current practice at a level I trauma center in the United States.
Penetrating neck injuries are commonly related to stab wounds and gunshot wounds in the United States. The injuries are classified by penetration site in terms of the three anatomical zones of the neck. Based on this zonal classification system, penetrating injuries to the head and neck have traditionally been evaluated by conventional angiography and/or surgical exploration. In recent years, m...
متن کاملEvaluation of hepatic vascular anatomy by multidetector computed tomography angiography in living liver right lobe donors
Background and Aims: The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the hepatic vascular anatomy and the variations in living right lobe donors by multidetector computed tomography angiography before the transplantation surgery and to detect the prevalence of these variations. Materials and Methods: Fifty-one potential liver donors (20 females, 31 males) underwent hepatic vascular computed tomogr...
متن کاملPreoperative evaluation of the trachea in a child with pulmonary artery sling using 3-dimensional computed tomographic imaging and virtual bronchoscopy.
Pulmonary artery sling is frequently accompanied by tracheal anomalies other than local compression, including focal/segmental or extensive stenosis (ring-sling complex). Recent advances in computed tomography technology, such as multidetector computed tomography with 3-dimensional imaging (3-D) and virtual bronchoscopy (VB), offer important and accurate information of the entire tracheobronchi...
